These climate summaries have been compiled at the request of the Seventh Fleet Meteorologist as a planning aid to assist fleet scheduling personnel, and as a general information source for Seventh Fleet commanding officers. The definite calendar limits of the seasons vary considerably over the Seventh Fleet area of operation. In the northern portion (Sea of Japan) the seasons are well defined into four distinct periods of winter, spring, summer and autumn; whereas, over the North Indian Ocean a wet and dry season characterizes the climatic cycle of a year. Included are a list of selected ports or nearby locations for which climatic profiles are given.
