This Environmental Assessment (EA), prepared in accordance with FAA Order 1050.1E, documents the potential effects to the environment that may result from the optimization of Air Traffic Control (ATC) procedures that would standardize aircraft routing to and from affected airports. The Proposed Action, the subject of this EA, is referred to as the Optimization of Airspace and Procedures in the Atlanta Metroplex or “Atlanta OAPM.” The procedures designed as part of the Atlanta OAPM would support arriving and departing aircraft operating under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) at the study area airports (“the Study Airports”), using currently available technology.
