A 16 mm motion picture technique was developed and tested for testing audience responses to freeway-to-freeway interchange signing. A total of 1007 persons were tested on three different films. Each film showed the same interchange but different sign messages. This study concludes that adding a freeway name to the signing did not reduce the proportion of errors by drivers not familiar with the interchange. Additional testing is recommended. (Author)
