The book deals with the fundamentals of aerodynamics in application to passenger aircraft configurations and includes the laws of motion of gases and bodies submerged in them, similarity laws for gas flows, and the fundamentals of finite-wing and boundary-layer theory. The characteristics of the earth's atmosphere are presented. Aerodynamic experiment techniques and equipment are described. The aerodynamic characteristics of wing profiles, wings and tails of various shapes, bodies of revolution, and the airplane as a whole are examined. Special chapters are devoted to the specific features of hypersonic aerodynamics and fundamentals of airscrew (puller and pusher) theory. (Author)
