The purpose of the book is to give recommendations for traffic provisions in urban areas. The book has five main parts. Part I contains an introduction on the layout of the book and gives a definition of traffic terms. Part II contains basic information with mathematical statistical documentation data on the human, the car, the road and traffic, legislation and starting points for traffic engineering. Part III describes working methods and aids for analysis and design. Part IV presents the provisions for motor vehicles and bicycles from the point of view of traffic engineering. Part V details special subjects such as beaconing and carriageway marking.
