The planning of landing sequence and aircraft handling was examined at Frankfurt airport. Analysis of air traffic samples for various traffic loads shows that planning depends on the individual tactics of the approach controller. The first heading instruction after the entry of an aircraft into the terminal area influences landing sequence, air traffic handling, integration of different traffic flows, and utilization of disposable runway capacity.
