An analysis and definition at system level is presented for the spacecraft which forms ESA's contribution to a joint ESA/NASA Jupiter swingby out-of-ecliptic mission. Aspects considered are: scientific objectives and payloads, launch vehicle interface, ground station interface, spacecraft operations, cleanliness, and reliability. An analysis is given of the mission, and the system is defined in detail.
