A study (1968-1970) to identify gaps in vocational rehabilitation services, between the job climate and market for the handicapped, and between facility and client needs arrived at 15 recommendations, grouped into four categories: improved organization and coordination; improved and expanded information and referral services; improved training and manpower programs; and provision of transportation for the handicapped. The principal recommendation has to do with the creation of a metropolitan Washington vocational rehabilitation coordinating office to provide regional communication and coordination, data gathering, and problem and need identification.
