A covert night camera system called FOCIA (Fiber Optics Coupled Image Amplifier) has been developed and flight evaluated. The camera system combined a 12-inch focal length night lens, a two-stage electromagnetically focused image amplifier, a film transport, and an optically filtered electronic flash illuminator. The system is described and examples of high quality night photography obtained with the FOCIA system at altitudes up to 11,000 ft are presented along with an evaluation of the system's airborne performance.
