The Malayan Railways is in the process of restructuring and rehabilitating its Railways. All aspects of the organization are involved in the plans, including its real estate holdings. A Definitional Mission was carried out to determine the feasibility of the project, the level of commitment to complete it and the potential business opportunities for American companies. The Mission confirmed that the project is feasible and fully supported by the government. Further, the Railway Administration has already hired Stanford Research Institute to develop the Master Plan and Architecture of a Management Information System. Further efforts should involve software design, application and testing. In addition, training and long term railway management services are business opportunities to be further developed.
