The major objective of this contract is to provide a complete and scientifically sound experimental evaluation of a cooperative aircraft collision avoidance system (CAS) based on utilization of altitude and range information only, with primary emphasis on the ground-reflection method of measuring range. An additional objective is to determine the complexity, size, weight, and power requirements of the CAS equipment and to provide the government with sufficient detail to permit preparation of specifications for models for both minimum- and fully-equipped aircraft.
