Ways to achieve helicopter digital flight control system reliability and survivability are shown. Microcomputer system failures caused by electromagnetic interference (EMI) and their impact on flight control are considered. Ways to ensure self recovery after EMI induced faults are outlined. A digital flight control system designed with respect to EMI problems and flight tested on a BK-117 is presented.
