From the law of conservation of angular momentum, this paper discusses the derivation of the first order attitude motion differential equation of a torque-free asymmetric dual-spin spacecraft with variables, the Euler angles and the angle of relative rotation. An exact analytical solution for the attitude motion without considering external torque is also obtained by means of the energy integral of the system. Based on that, the nutational stability of a dual-spin spacecraft is discussed when the rotor angular speed approaches zero. The nonstationary attitude motion of the dual-spin spacecraft through the unstable region while in the despinning process is also discussed. Some mistakes in the literature, are pointed out and corrected. (Chinese translations; China)
