An engineering baseline definition is given of an urban transportation circulation and distribution system consisting of small vehicles riding atop smooth, shallow U-shaped guideways, employing air pad suspension and linear induction motor propulsion. Stations make use of a random access and storage procedure with lateral docking movements. Switches are on the vehicle, stations off-line. The application to CBD is discussed. (UMTA abstract)
