Techniques for determining the attitude of the rocket axis for the vehicle AH7.886 are discussed. The attitude system consisted of a set of triaxial Schonstedt magnetometers, a Spectra-Physics sun sensor, serial number 2065-2, and an electronic multiplexer. Since no voltage greater than 3.24 volts was outputted by this multiplexer system, the sun angles could not be determined whenever the 3.24 volt saturation level was reached. To determine the attitude of the AH7.886 vehicle axis without available sun sensor data three different techniques were used, all yielding similar results. The first uses the rate of change of the magnetometers to solve for the attitude; the second simulates the attitude once an angle between the sun and rocket axis is known; and the third approach simulates the attitude after assuming sinusoidal motion for the elevation angle of the lateral magnetometer and full magnetic field readings by the lateral magnetometer for one-half a spin period.
