This report describes the experimental evaluation of the Mars II electric automobile conducted by the Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory. In addition to tests designed to determine vehicle range capabilities and battery performance, vehicle dynamics tests involving acceleration and braking measurements and ride and handling responses were performed. Many of these tests were repeated with a Renault 10 automobile - the basic vehicle upon which the MARS II system is installed. The record of the maintenance problems and equipment malfunctions encountered during the program is summarized. Specific test results are shown and discussed in detail. The overall evaluation of the vehicle is then summarized in a series of conclusions. (Author)
