This report presents the results of our review of the Federal Aviation Administrations (FAA) Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Program. Our objective was to assess whether FAAs execution of its HAZMAT Program was adequate to ensure industrys compliance with HAZMAT regulations. To do this, we focused our audit on FAAs (1) administration of HAZMAT enforcement cases, (2) efforts to ensure that HAZMAT regulations address the unique environment for shipments of HAZMAT by air, and (3) efforts to prevent unauthorized HAZMAT from being carried on board passenger aircraft.
