An apparatus, developed to measure the velocity and the acceleration of military vehicles, contains a Doppler radar which is used to measure the movement of the vehicles as a function of time. A displacement of the vehicle over a half wave-length of the used radar frequency corresponds with a period of the received Doppler frequency. The apparatus can measure velocities and accelerations of vehicles riding on a road or terrain, or of amphibian vehicles moving through the water. (Author)
