The objective of the over-all study is to analyze the major modes of transportation in the United States with particular reference to the effects of a nuclear attack on the transportation resources, assessment of damage to these resources for a range of attacks, estimation of the capability of the post-attack transportation system, comparison of this capability with the estimated demand for transportation in the post-attack period, and suggestion of measures that might enhance post-attack transportation capability.
