Experimental data on VLF propagation taken during aircraft flights from the United Kingdom out over the North Atlantic have shown that under night conditions, waveguide mode interference is appreciable at distances at least as far as 7000 km from the transmitter, for frequencies between 10 and 14 kHz. The implications of these propagation results on the lane resolution ability of the OMEGA VLF navigational aid is discussed. (Author)
