A study of traffic conflicts at a rural dual carriageway intersection has been made and the relation of conflicts with injury accidents investigated. It is shown that more than two vehicles were present in three quarters of the conflict cases studied. Three of the most common situations observed leading to multi vehicle conflicts are described. Speed measurements were made but no evidence was found which indicated that vehicles travelling faster than average were an important factor in the generation of accident situations.
