This report presents results of a study of the economic effects of a 3.1 mile segment of a 4-lane highway on the economic and social environment of the City of Yankton. A study was also made of accident rates, and road user costs and these showed considerable improvement due to the new highway. The study showed that the highway improvement reorganized land usage patterns, and greatly increased land values. There was an increase in sales and employment along the highway. The study indicated which kind of businesses increased the most along the highway, and concluded that the highway improvement has benefited the whole economy of Yankton. (BPR abstract)
