Heavy February and March shipping rates from supplier countries, reports of improved through-put at Soviet ports, and additional Soviet grain buying over the past month have prompted a one million ton increase in projected July-June 1981/82 Soviet imports, bringing the total to 44 million tons. Soviet imports are now expected to continue heavy through the summer months, with imports during the October-September 1981/82 period expected to reach a record 45 million tons.
