This specification defines the objectives, criteria and configuration and establishes the requirements for performance, design, test, and qualification of the Aircraft Integrated Data System (AIDS) for the prototype model supersonic transport airplane. The primary purpose of AIDS is to reduce maintenance cost and to improve aircraft availability and dispatch reliability. It accomplishes fault detection during flight and identifies aircraft system component failures. This information is presented as a readable output on board the airplane for use by the flight crew during flight and maintenance crew upon termination of the flight. The AIDS data may be further used to accomplish failure prediction by analyzing flight recorded system performance data with a ground based computer. At the present time, the AIDS is established as a customer option on production airplanes. (Author)
