The report summarizes the results of a questionnaire completed by 436 tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade students in six Washtenaw County high schools during the 1970-71 school year. Content areas of the survey include: drivingexperience, driving record, driver education, exposure to drinking and driving information in school and on the mass media, radio listenership and newspaper readership, drinking and driving after drinking experience, role of alcohol in traffic accidents, effect of alcohol on driving ability, factors influencing how alcohol affects an individual, legal aspects of drunk driving, and demographic and background information on the respondent. The survey was carried out in order to obtain baseline information useful to the development and evaluation of the public information program for high school students being carried out by the Washtenaw Alcohol Safety Action Program.
