Motor vehicle safety performance standards have been investigated as they relate to vehicle interiors. A systematic plan and organized body of information is presented herein which we feel provides sound biodynamic, engineering and economic bases from which to formulate motor vehicle safety performance standards for improved occupant protection in vehicle interiors. The report is presented in two volumes, with Volume I separated into two parts; (1) State-of-the-Art, and (2) Plan to Develop Performance Standards. (Author)
