The first two of a series of research rocket flights are discussed. The objectives of the flights were: (1) to learn the capabilities of the rockets, (2) to analyze the interface between payloads and rockets, and (3) to process composite casting demonstration capsules originally intended for Apollo 15 flight. The capsules contained experiments for investigating the stability of gas bubbles in plain and fiber reinforced metal melted and solidified in near zero g conditions. The charactersitics of the Aerobee 170A and Black Brant VC vehicles are described. Flight data for the Aerobee 170A NASA 13.113 are presented and analyzed. (Author)
