The theoretical and experimental approach used for the study of the vibroacoustic environment of Ariane 4 payloads at liftoff is presented. Focus is on a comparison between computer predicted and measured flight acoustic levels under the fairing in the payload area, at low and medium frequencies. The good agreement between the predicted and measured levels allow the model to be used as a reliable interpretative tool of the flight data.
