The tendency toward the construction of large tankers in the capitalistic countries testifies to the aggravation of the competitive battle for the charter market. The growth in the size of the tankers is combined with the decrease in the operation expense and curtailment of numerical quantity of crew on account of the automated operation of the ship. In the conditions of the West, this serves the fundamental goal of capitalistic means of production, the receipt of monopolistic profits. (Author)
