The Swedish National Rail Administration (BV) has with the support of the Swedish Transport and Communications Research Board (KFB) and the Swedish State Railways (SJ) carried out a project (the Jenny Project) developing a new train control system called the radio block. Distiguishing features of the radio block system include low investment, operational and maintenance costs in combination with a high safety level. The radio block system is primarily designed for county and other low traffic lines, whose traffic volumes are too low to carry the cost of traditional centralized traffic control systems.
