Crashworthiness strategies, which include crash energy management (CEM), pushback couplers, and push/pull operation, are evaluated and compared under specific collision conditions. Comparisons of three strategies are evaluated in this paper: (1) Push versus Pull Operation (Cab Car Led versus Locomotive Led Consists); (2) Conventional versus CEM Consists and (3) Incremental CEM versus Full-CEM.
