The main objective of the project was to develop a model professional school bus driver-training program. The program was to include a fully automated computer-based instructional system as well as simulator-based driver-training scenarios. This first phase of the research was to focus on concept feasibility and the prototype development. The methodology we used to achieve the objective included conducting a thorough assessment of the Driver Training Program of the Orange County Public School System (OCPS). Based on that assessment, a computer-based driver training system was developed and a scenario for a high fidelity driving simulator for training and evaluation was created. Lastly, preliminary validation of the computer based training modules was conducted.
