Dendritic microstructure in a welded joint with centrally abutting joint. With increasing load plastic deformation begins. At low temperatures: slip band formation, grain displacement - ductile fracture. At higher temperatures: grain boundary migration, grain boundary melting, intercrystaline structural separation - hot shortness. REM static image micrographs of the break surfaces with "cups" and "columns".
