Theoretical wave spectra derived by Darbyshire, Roll and Fischer, and Neumann are compared with a carefully determined spectrum computed from wave pole and stereo wave observations of a fully developed sea with a wind speed near 18.7 knots. It is shown that only the Neumann spectrum agrees with the spectrum obtained from the observed data.
