A flexible subblock image retrieval algorithm is proposed which is robust to object translation, lighting changes, and object appearance/disappearance in an image which is divided into nine non-overlapping subblocks. Furthermore, using Ohta-colour moments and biorthogonal wavelet frames from each subblock, the dimension of the colour space can be reduced and the retrieval performance improved.
