The fading, or scintillating, radio channel in satellite communication is considered in this paper. A 2/sup nd/ Order Markov process is utilized to model a flat fading channel. The effect of fading on an FFT-based symmetric differential phase shift keying (SDPSK) receiver is examined. The system performance is simulated by using SPW and results are presented.
