For wind power conversion system, electrical generator, machine side converter and grid side converter are the three integral parts. Among the electrical generator, permanent magnet synchronous generator is one of the preferred choice because of its different features. The synchronous generator converts the wind power to corresponding electrical power and machine as well as grid side converters are utilized to feed the electrical power to the utility grid. Analysis of different topology and control schemes of machine side converter are required to choose the suitable topology as well as the control scheme for the machine side converter. This paper provides a brief overview of different topologies and control scheme of machine side converter for wind power conversion system.
