With the steady development of China's economy and the progress of the urbanization process, the suburban railway has become an important role in transportation for passengers to travel locally. Reasonable timetable can not only improve operational efficiency, but also improve passenger satisfaction. In this paper, an integrated cyclic train timetabling and rolling stock circulation planning model considering passenger demand is established for a Chinese suburban railway line based on periodic event scheduling problem (PESP). Specifically, this model considers the possibility of overtaking and flexible connection of rolling stocks, i.e., a set of rolling stocks may perform different type of train services in different periods. A lagrangian relaxation algorithm is developed to shorten the computation time. The effectiveness of the model is demonstrated by several numerical experiments based on the available data of Jingxiong R1 line.
