Superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) system is deliberated to be a very operative energy storage technology in power system capable of storing a large amount of electric energy in his magnetic field. SMES is having a very fast time of response at the time of charging and discharging and providing a very good efficiency nearly 95%. The power quality of the system is severely affected due to arbitrary variations in solar radiation and sudden change in load. This may pose severe problems to our power system performance. In this paper we are using the SMES system to overcome the fluctuation of a solar farm and wind firm interconnected with our conventional power system to supply system load So that we can use roof top solar system, solar farm and wind firm with conventional power system to reduce the consumption of fossil fuel. SMES unit store the energy when renewable plants generating good amount of power and release it at the time of Peak load or when renewable power is not generating due to atmospheric condition. So in this research paper a simulation model is developed in SIMULINK/MATLAB, SMES is incorporated to diminish the power system fluctuation and a comparative analysis done for The results of solar and wind firm interconnected with SMES.
