This article presents a study of GPS trackers for tracking horses. Trackers were tested as part of a project funded by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan in five regions. The main characteristics, such as the measurement error of GPS coordinates and battery life, were calculated, found experimentally and evaluated. For the first time, trackers operating on a different principle of transmitting GPS data over channels were considered: GSM; Lora; VHF; satellite communications. Of all the trackers, Smart One C with satellite communication showed the best results in terms of autonomy of about 6 months of battery life.
