In this paper, different behavior of the polarization dependence of the gain (PDG) depending on state of polarization (SOP) of the pump source was presented both experimentally and theoretically. The introduced theoretical model, by Poincare mapping, demonstrates that in silica fibers minimum polarization dependence relates to the cylindrical symmetry of the fiber. Linearly polarized pump breaks the cylindrical symmetry and results in larger Raman polarization dependence.
