We demonstrate a simple recipe for generating ultralow timing jitter from modelocked diode lasers. The key concept relies on the fact that the residual timing jitter is influenced by the dominant corner frequency and/or super mode noise spurs. By harmonically modelocking lasers and using super mode noise suppression to select a single longitudinal mode group will provide for close-in corner frequencies without super mode noise and low integrated timing jitter.
