A real-time feedback scheduling strategy based on varying sampling period is developed for the networked control system (NCS) with time delay and data dropouts, and a time-varying fault detection method corresponding to the scheduling strategy is proposed. A network monitor is set to test the data dropout rate and system performance. Then the sampling period of every control loop in the NCS with limited network resource is adjusted online according to the monitoring results. The optimization design of the fault detection filter (FDF) is expressed in terms of H∞ / H∞ or H− / H∞ performance index. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
