Using magnetically enhanced terahertz (THz) radiation from InAs, the absorption of mono- and di- substituted hydroxynaphthalenes are determined. The absorption of 2-hydroxynaphthalene is found to be higher than that of 1-hydroxynaphthalene. This result can be ascribed to the dipole moment of 2-hydroxynaphthalene, which is higher compared to that of the 1-hydroxynaphthalene. High absorption in the low frequency region is observed for the 1,4-hydroxynaphthalene, which is possibly due to dimerization.
