Walker delta type constellation is an excellent candidate to compose non-geostationary orbit satellite communication networks. LEO and MEO satellite networks composed by Walker delta constellations have many excellent characteristics respectively and the elevation angle, azimuth angle and length of ISLs in these two systems are studied especially. Using different routing strategy in order to fulfil different QoS requirement, the two systems behave differentially. A brand-new synthetic routing strategy is put forward to analyze its performance in these two trunks. Numerical results show that the synthetic routing strategy performs better than other four routing strategies in considering delay, delay jitter, handoff and communication termination synthetically; and the results also show that LEO and MEO systems as space-based backbones have different characteristics.
