This paper presents a novel procedure for the optimization of band-pass filters consisting of Frequency Selective Surfaces (FSS) embedded in a dielectric. The approach is based on an innovative stochastic algorithm, namely, the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), which is integrated into a spectrum domain analysis code.
