This paper presents a review of the existing charging technologies for EVs, followed by a presentation of a proposed solution based on several distributed transmitter coils supplied by parallel resonant inverters sequentially energized depending on the position of receiver coil mounted on the vehicle. Then a reduced scale demonstrator with an energized lane of several meters, containing the elements of a real system, will be presented. Numerical 3D simulations are used to calculate the parameters of the inductive charging system and their variation with the EV position as well as the energy transfer efficiency. Parts of the numerical results are experimentally validated.
