The designment of Si-based 2D photonic crystal taper is presented. The software Rsoft incorporating finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) technique was used to simulate light propagation through this new structure. Plenty of methods have been tried to improve transmission coefficient and solve the problem of mode mismatch in photonic crystal devices. A taper with high transmission coefficient has been designed and optimized.
