The subject of this paper addresses the development of a scalable and cybernetic energy management system. The modular and recursive top down approach from district level to the battery module level is described in detail. Furthermore a possible environmental coupling of the management system and stationary battery storage is presented. All this is done on the basis of Beer’s Viable System Model (VSM) and Ashby’s Law of Requisite Variety.
