In this work we discuss possible use of virtual private networks (VPN) for voice data transmission. A VPN system for now is widely used for network resource access and it is desirable to understand such network usability for voice communications. For this we chose measurement system which gives network bottleneck link characteristics and based on this information we estimate queuing system parameters. We show how to deploy network measurement system and analyze obtained data. Testing is done with data streams which are similar to voice data streams. For given connection it is possible to develop analytical model which could be described with queuing system M/M/l/K with certain precision. Chosen VPN system and other software are selected with criterion of standard compliance and open source software in particular.
